Soccer Shooting Tips

Soccer shooting is a very important skill. If you don’t know how to shoot, you will neither score so many goals. When it comes to shooting, the power of your shoot is not necessarily the most important component. However, a combination of accuracy and power will take you much higher than if you were just relying on one of these. To gain good accuracy in your shots I recommend you to practice a lot. If you are new to soccer you may start first from a still ball. Once you feel that you have learned how to shoot when the ball is standing still you should switch to a ball that is in motion.

How to practice?
Well, one of the popular soccer drills is to ask a friend to be your goalkeeper and let him roll the ball at you. Once the ball reaches you try to strike it near one of the posts. If you do not have a friend at your disposal then I would recommend you to use a wall. You could start at a near distance and move further back as you get more skilled. Practicing with a soccer wall is like playing a video game. Once you complete a level you move on to the next. In this case you will move backwards and increase the distance to the wall.

As you get more accuracy in your shots you should also involve some dribbling exercises as well. For example, you could start by performing few soccer moves first and then finish with a shoot. It is also a good idea to practice on your both feet as this will help you score more goals. Another popular exercise that you can use in order to increase your shooting skills is having a friend set up different shooting opportunities. Your friend could for example throw the ball in the air, pass it hard on the ground or let it bounce. By doing this you will be forced to put the ball under control before firing a shoot which will indirectly increase your control on the ball as well.

Parts of foot to use
There are a number of ways to strike the ball to make it go towards the direction you want. Let’s start with the instep. In order to give the ball a lot of venom it is best to use you instep. This is the hardest part of your foot and thus the ball will have a lot of power. If you wish to fire accurate and well placed shoots you should try to use the inside of your foot as it is the most accurate part. However, the negative thing about using the inside of your foot is that you will not be able to put so much power on the ball. The outside of your foot is the most rarely used part when it comes to shooting. It is also very hard to control an outside shoot as it requires a lot of swerve in order to find the goal.

Summary
Mastering different shooting techniques is a must for every soccer player especially if you are playing as midfielder or forward as these two positions usually get the most of the shooting opportunities.
